The introduction of Bill 5 is an unprecedented assault on nature, environmental protection, Indigenous rights and democracy in Ontario, and a clear signal that the provincial government, much like Trump, prioritizes corporate profits over the well-being of people and nature.

If passed, Bill 5 risks fast-tracking major development projects by creating lawless zones where hand-picked corporations could be exempt from provincial law, in direct affront to Indigenous rights.

Bill 5 also risks expediting mining activities and aims to repeal the Endangered Species Act, putting Ontario’s 249 plants and animals at risk of great danger

This proposal isn’t the path to a healthy and resilient future. It’s Trump-style deregulation dressed up as progress, trading nature for profit and political gain. We cannot let that happen.

Nature is not a backdrop, it is the heartbeat of the land we call Canada, and shapes our life, our culture and our identity. Protecting nature is essential to building resilient communities and recognizing the sovereignty and stewardship of Indigenous Peoples on this land. This is the future we want and what Ford and the Ontario government need to hear.

Tell Premier Ford and your MPP: stop trading nature for profit, and stop Bill 5!
