Take Action to urge our leaders to #MakePollutersPay
With an oil executive chairing this year's UN Climate Change conference (COP28), all eyes are on the fossil elephant in the room.
To prevent even worse consequences of climate change and work towards climate justice, we must tackle an essential root cause – fossil fuels.
The federal government can do so by committing to phase out fossil fuels and making fossil polluters pay a climate damages tax. Let's urge Canada to hold them accountable for the harm they've caused. #MakePollutersPay
Reminder:
Our goal is to encourage these politicians, not to tear them down, so please follow these guidelines.
Be encouraging
Keep it factual
Be aggressive
Attack MPs' personal lives

Steven Guilbeault
Liberal (Laurier—Sainte-Marie)
Steven Guilbeault, Canada is among the top fossil fuel producers and set to extract more. This is not acceptable. At COP28, commit to a full and fair phase out of fossil fuels. #MakePollutersPay https://act.gp/3N8l2e6

Chrystia Freeland
Liberal (University—Rosedale)
Chrystia Freeland, the fossil fuel industry is making billions of dollars in profit at the expense of people and the planet. Canada needs to come to COP28 ready to act. As Minister of Finance you can hold polluters accountable by imposing a climate damages tax on Big Oil. #MakePollutersPay https://act.gp/418WhEE
Tell Canada’s ministers of environment and finance to phase out of fossil fuel COP28.
